Volkswagen ID.Buzz Specifications
With a rear-engine design and rear wheel drive, the Volkswagen electric bus is a pretty good throwback to the old Microbus that had a small rear engine design. Of course the EV bus from Volkswagen will have way more power than the old Vanagon bus that could barely get out of its own way!
Mechanically, the specifications of the ID Buzz match the ID.4 SUV. They both have a single electric motor rated for 201 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. Coupled with a 77 kWh batter pack, it should be rated for around 263 miles of range on the European test cycle, and around 220 miles according to the EPA test.
Specifications
- 201 hp, 229 lb-ft torque electric motor
- 77.0 kWh battery
- DC fast charging up to 170 kW
- 0-60 mph in 10.2 seconds
- 2-row ID.Buzz weights 5448 lbs
The ID.Buzz electric van will come in 10 standard colors with 30 optional extended palette colors.

European/Short Wheel Base Specifications
The ID.Buzz is 4.71 metres long, has a wheelbase of 2.99 metres, and is 1.99 metres wide and 1.94 metres high. At the market launch, it will leave the assembly line with five seats. The three-seater (second row) bench can be moved in longitudinal direction and the backrest angle of the seats can be adjusted.
Six- and seven-seater configurations will follow in the medium term, whereby the latter version will have a longer wheelbase and be destined for North America as well.
The luggage compartment has a basic capacity of 1,121 litres and a maximum load capacity of 2,205 litres.
USA ID.Buzz Specific Specifications
While we don’t know too much about the specific differences between the European model and the North American destined ID.Buzz, we do know that the USA model will have a longer wheelbase so that it can accommodate 3 row-seating for 8 passengers and still have cargo space too.
Volkswagen has mentioned that the USA version will have a larger battery pack option, as well as an option for all-wheel-drive which will have a second electric motor mounted in the front of the ID.Buzz.
