ID.Buzz Production

Production of the new ID.Buzz electric van will be at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles plant in Hannover, Germany, where the passenger and Euro-market cargo versions will be built alongside each other.

European Production

European production is set to begin in mid 2022, with deliveries in the last quarter of 2022.

Production was suspended temporarily in late June after Volkswagen discovered a quality problem with the batteries, and then production continued on July 4 2022.

Orders for the ID.Buzz were around 12,500, which means almost all of the production for 2022 was spoken for as of September 2022.

Of the 15,000 or so vehicles we will build in 2022, not all can be delivered to customers immediately. We first have to stock the dealers first. So the first 6,000 vehicles will go into the showrooms, then the customer vehicles will come.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) boss Carsten Intra

As of September 18, 2022, about 100 vehicles per day were being built, with plans to grow that to 200 per day by the end of 2022. Volkswagen plans to ramp up production towards 100,000 per year, with eventual plans to have capacity to make 130,000 ID.Buzz per year at the Hanover plant. Volkswagen is also thinking about expanding capacity by using the Poznan plant in Poland to manufacture more units in the future [src].

North American Production

USA Production of the ID.Buzz electric minibus is scheduled for a 2024 model. Volkswagen hasn’t been clear if this will be available in 2023 as a 2024 model, or if it will only be available in the USA in 2024.
